Preventive Health: When Are We Going to Talk About It?
Preventive Health: when are we going to talk about it?
My point of view
Unfortunately, we still pay far too little attention to the proactive choices we can make ourselves to preserve and improve our health.
This concerns me, especially because so much scientific progress has been made in recent years. Research has given us increasingly valuable insights into how our lifestyle choices today influence our vitality, resilience and health as we grow older.
So why aren't we making better use of this knowledge? And why aren't people encouraged to take greater responsibility for their health, rather than waiting until problems arise?
I believe it is time to shift our perspective. Instead of focusing primarily on treating illness, we should pay much more attention to maintaining health, strengthening resilience and supporting the body's ability to adapt.
This is where preventive health becomes so important.
Through the science of Psycho-Neuro-Immunology (PNI), we know that the different systems in our body do not operate independently. Our nervous system, immune system, hormonal system and metabolism constantly communicate and influence one another.
Understanding these interactions can help us make more informed lifestyle choices and support our long-term health.
How healthy is your lifestyle and how resilient is your body?
Take a moment to reflect on the following questions:
How would you describe your lifestyle in terms of nutrition, physical activity and sleep?
Is your weight appropriate for your health and physical condition?
How is your cardiovascular fitness and physical endurance?
Have you had your vitamin D, vitamin K, selenium, zinc and vitamin C status assessed where appropriate?
Is your digestive system functioning properly?
How is your metabolic health? Do you experience energy dips during the day?
Do you regularly experience fatigue, brain fog, difficulty concentrating or memory problems?
Are chronic illness, allergies or prolonged stress placing a continuous burden on your immune system?
These questions can help you reflect on your current health and identify areas that may deserve attention.
